OILED FINISHES
Aged Brasses, Aged Coppers which are left unlacquered, are treated with an oiled finish. These finishes are designed to age naturally and copper and brass will do, tarnishing, dullening over time and gradually becoming darker if left untouched, and gradually becoming lighter where handled more. To maintain oiled brasses and coppers, we recommend to apply any oiled to a soft cloth, wipe over the plated part then remove any excess oil. Avoid any harsh abrasives, acids, alcohol and vinegars.
LACQUERED FINISHES
Astor apply a 2 pac clear automotive lacquer and the parts should be treated as thus. No harsh abrasives. Clean with a soft damp cloth or with mild detergents. Other cleaning for more stubborn spills is Mineral Turpentine. Avoid any harsh abrasives, thinners & glass cleaners. Do not use tapes or solvents.
CHROME
Remove dust with a soft cloth routinely & regularly. When necessary clean with mild soap & detergents with a soft cloth. Brasso and soft metal polishers are also suitable cleaning agents for all chrome finishes. Silicone based household cleaners are also suitable. Avoid any harsh abrasives and schotchbrites. With care, Astor’s chrome finishes can be maintained for many years.
